My Work

The Problem…

The Economic Development Corporation of Utah, also known as EDCUtah, distributes monthly project update reports to its associates, relying significantly on this public-facing PUR report for various presentations. This report is essential for EDCUtah. It is how they represent themselves to their benefactors, clients, and other necessary relationships. Prior to my involvement, the process involved manual creation of graphs in Excel, consuming hours of valuable time and causing undue stress on the marketing team due to the report's frequent occurrence.

Introducing Tableau revolutionized this process. I successfully developed a dynamic website presenting real-time data, eliminating the tedious task of manual graph creation. This not only saved significant time and reduced stress for the marketing team but also provided accessibility to the report 24/7. The website, powered by Tableau, ensured that the data remained current so long as the data was refreshed from time to time, offering substantial benefits in terms of efficiency and accessibility.

The Impact…

Not only did my efforts rejuvenize their reports, it allowed EDCUtah to focus on more pressing and less monotonous tasks. The benefits are vast. As the marketing team expressed distress over the previous process for graph creation, my services likely increased retention amongst this team. With the recurrence of presentations happening more and more frequently, EDCUtah needed to have up to date graphs several times a month. This would not have been plausible without my services. The old process was unsustainable and was a huge pain point for this company. This was a critical and innovative way of solving a big problem.

My team QuantumMind and I won first place for undergraduates in the Game Day Analytics Challenge hosted by the University of Utah. We sought answers as to what brands performed best at advertising in this year's Super Bowl. To accomplish this, we analyzed a dataset containing over 177,000 posts on X. After thoroughly cleaning and parsing the data, we used Tableau and Python to provide us with key insights and a holistic analysis. I have over a year's worth of experience in data visualization working for the Economic Development Corporation of Utah and the Rice-Eccles Stadium which allowed me to be competitive. I am incredibly proud of my teammates Jebediah Dean, Pratyush Dixit, and Emilie Parra. They performed diligently.

Using Tableau, I created a visualization that shows the performance throughout the game of the top five brands that received the most engagement for their ad.

I created another visualization that shows the top ten brands in engagement in the Super Bowl.
